Employee Recognition

Employee of the Month

The purpose of the employee recognition program is to promote a greater appreciation of the District’s employees and to publicly honor specific employees for outstanding service which directly or indirectly contributes to students in the Alameda Unified School District. Each month recipients are publicly recognized by the Board of Education.  A certificate signed by the President of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of schools is presented to the persons selected.  Persons selected have their picture on display in the District office for the school year.  All winners have appropriate documentation of the award entered into their personnel file.

*The Employee of the Month Nomination form can be found on the District's Sharepoint under HR.

2017 Teacher of the Year

Every year, Alameda community members have a chance to nominate excellent teachers for the district's Teacher of the Year award. The winner is then eligible for the county and state Teacher of the Year awards, too. Use this form to nominate a teacher for the 2017 award. The deadline is 3 pm, February 1, 2017.

2016 Teacher of the Year

Amanda Cline, who has been teaching kindergarten at Ruby Bridges Elementary School since 2006, was chosen for skill in incorporating art into her teacher, as well as her deep support of her students' emotional and social well being. For more information about Ms. Cline, please see this press release.

Classified Employee of the Year 2017

AUSD is currently accepting nominations for the state's Classified School Employee of the Year program. Nominations go first to the school district, which then chooses nominees to send to the Alameda County Office of Education. The county office, in turn, sends nominations to the California Department of Education (CDE).

You can nominate classified AUSD employees in the following five categories:

  • Child Nutrition (e.g., food service employees)
  •  Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities (e.g., custodians and tradespeople)
  •  Office and Technical (e.g., school site secretaries and office managers)
  •  Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance (e.g., paraprofessionals and teacher assistants)
  •  Support Services and Security (e.g., campus supervisors, payroll technicians, student services assistants)

(The state also takes nominees for a sixth category, Transportation, but AUSD has no staff working in that category.)

You can download the nomination form here. Once it is filled out, please send it to Humera Khalil, at hkhalil@alameda.k12.ca.us. The deadline for submitting nominations to the district is 5 pm, February 23, 2017.
