This information is provided to give background on school innovation work underway in AUSD. As a result of efforts by Board of Education and AUSD to work with and gain input from a wide range of community stakeholders to formulate the AUSD Master Plan, the community indicated the desire to create programs of choice for their students. Thanks to the efforts of all the dedicated members of the community and the passage of Measure A, exploration and proposals for programs of choice now continue.
Below is a joint letter from the Alameda Education Association (AEA) and AUSD to explain history behind the call for these programs of choice, as well as next steps AUSD stakeholders will be taking in planning of these. We now look forward to working closely in months ahead with teachers and community members to take next steps to plan innovative programs that will meet the desires and needs of the greater Alameda community.
